I. At the Dawn of Time
Once the ice ages receded and the main human teams roamed the humid valleys in the Cantabrian Sea, the lands we now call Euskal Herria had been now a refuge. Within the caves of Santimamiñe, Ekain, Isturitz, and Aitzbitarte, nameless arms remaining bison, horses, and symbols that also manage to resonate now.

Rome arrived, but by no means completely subdued them. The mountains, forests, and local resistance meant that Romanization was constrained: streets, bridges, agricultural villas… although the language and several customs ongoing on their own path.
III. Amongst Empires: The Early Middle Ages
After the tumble of Rome, these lands lay among two worlds: the Frankish along with the Visigothic.
All through this time, a reputation emerged that could resonate for centuries: Vasconia.
• In Navarre, the Vascones structured by themselves about Pamplona.
• Inside the Northern Basque Region (Iparralde), the Duchy of Vasconia stretched in the Garonne River to the Pyrenees.
